Mary&May is a Korean skincare brand with targeted formulas. Its Spicule range combines spicules, fine particles of hydrolysed marine sponge, with star K-beauty actives. The 15 g size lets you try the active before investing in a full routine.

Two Spicule creams, two uses

• The Spicule Collagen PDRN Cream focuses on hydration and comfort: collagen forms a film that plumps the look of the skin, and PDRN is a hydrating active much appreciated in Korea.
• The Spicule Retinol PDRN Cream is aimed at skin texture and first fine lines. It is reserved for the evening and introduced gradually, two evenings a week at first.

Spicules: what you need to know

Spicules cause a slight tingle on application. This is expected, but it should stay brief. Avoid the eye area and broken skin, and do not combine them on the same evening with an AHA or BHA exfoliant. The retinol cream is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding; sun protection is a must the next day.
