How it develops

Saffron opens alone, with no citrus to soften it: a dry, spicy entrance, with that leathery and slightly medicinal facet that characterises the material. Nothing welcoming — and that is intended.

The heart is the most interesting passage. Leather extends the saffron, osmanthus and apricot bring a fruity flesh that contradicts this dryness, and the olive note — rare in perfumery — adds a green, salty and slightly bitter side. The whole holds on this imbalance.

The base tips into smoke: dry woods and cypress, a resinous, slightly camphorous conifer. That is what gives the perfume its name and its signature of embers.
