Barakkat Rouge 540

Barakkat Rouge 540 opens on saffron and jasmine, passes through amber woods, ambergris and cedar, and ends on fir resin and musk. Warm, sweet without being gourmand, with a clear projection, six to eight hours on skin and much more on a garment. Unisex, worn as much by men as by women. The other Barakkat

• Barakkat Gentle Gold — almond, vanilla, tonka bean. The most gourmand of the line, unisex, wearable by day.
• Barakkat Satin Oud — oud, saffron, rose. The most oriental: one spray is enough. Also in 50 ml.
• Barakkat Ambre Eve — amber, soft spices, woods. Warm without being heavy.

Outside the Barakkat line

Elysia Vanilla Sugar, a recent arrival, is a frank vanilla gourmand — sugar, caramel, vanilla orchid, whipped cream, tonka and sandalwood — with eight to ten hours of hold. Cocktail Intense plays the fruity, sparkling card, lighter, for sunny days. Cuir Leather is the exact opposite: leather, spices and dry woods, masculine, for the evening.

Hold and use

These are heavily dosed eaux de parfum, in the logic of Emirati houses: two sprays on the neck and wrists last the day, and the base stays perceptible on a cotton or wool garment long after. Rouge 540 and Ambre Eve come into their own from October to April; Gentle Gold and Cocktail Intense get through summer. Barakkat Rouge 540 in 50 ml or 100 ml?
The 50 ml is for trying or travelling; for daily use, the 100 ml costs noticeably less per millilitre and lasts several months at two sprays a day.

Eau de parfum or extrait for Rouge 540?
The eau de parfum is enough for the day. The extrait is denser and lasts longer, but calls for a lighter hand indoors.
