Barbe à Papa is the most frankly sweet version of the tahara musks from Gris Montaigne Paris, in a 12 ml bottle. The name (“cotton candy” in French) hides nothing of its intent: a note of spun sugar, cottony and slightly caramelized, set on a base of white musk.
Sweet, but not overwhelming
That is the whole point of the format. A cotton candy note in an eau de parfum quickly turns cloying: the alcohol throws the sugar several meters. In an alcohol-free oil, the same note stays close to the skin. You smell it when you come near, not when you walk into the room. That makes it a gourmand that is wearable at the office or during the day, where its sprayed equivalent would be out of place.
The white musk underneath plays its usual role: it brings the clean, powdery quality that keeps the sugar from turning into pure candy.
Tahara musk, white musk, intimate musk
Three names for the same family. Tahara means “purity” in Arabic and refers to these alcohol-free perfumed oils, widespread in the Gulf countries. The alcohol-free formula does not sting on application, does not evaporate all at once, and diffuses slowly as it warms on contact with the body.
How to apply it
One drop on the finger or applicator, dabbed on the wrists and the base of the neck.
Do not rub: the gesture warms the oil and shortens the diffusion.
One drop is enough. The concentration is high, even though the projection is low.
Excellent as a base under a gourmand eau de parfum, whose staying power it extends.
