Oud Cachemire is the woodiest Musc Tahara of the Gris Montaigne Paris series, in a 12 ml bottle. Its name combines two materials that perfumery often sets against each other: oud, dense and smoky, and cashmere — meaning cashmeran, that downy woody-musky note that evokes wool more than wood.
The oud-cashmere contrast
Oud brings resinous depth and the old-world, almost leathery side of Gulf perfumery. Cashmere acts in the opposite way: it softens, envelops and makes the whole wearable every day. This tension is what sets Oud Cachemire apart from the rest of the range, where the variants are mostly sweet or floral.
On an alcohol-free white musk base, the oud stays far more measured than in an eau de parfum: the oil diffuses close to the skin, giving an intimate impression rather than a sillage.
Tahara musk: the principle
Tahara means “purity” in Arabic. These alcohol-free perfumed oils, also called white musk or intimate musk, are a very old practice on the Arabian Peninsula. Without alcohol, there is no rapid evaporation: the material warms on contact with the body and is released slowly, over several hours, without ever filling a room.
How to apply it
One drop, dabbed on the wrists and the base of the neck. Do not rub.
Start very small: oud, even in oil, builds more than you expect.
Layers well under a woody eau de parfum, whose staying power it extends.
May stain light-colored fabric — apply to the skin, not to clothing.
