Rouh Al Arab — literally “the soul of the Arabs” — is offered as a 12 ml Musc Tahara by Gris Montaigne Paris. It is the reference in the series whose name most explicitly claims the heritage of Arabian perfumery, whereas the other variants carry descriptive or gourmand names.
The bag-size bottle
Twelve milliliters is little in volume and a lot in duration. A perfumed oil is applied by the drop, whereas an eau de parfum is counted in sprays: at one application a day, a bottle this size lasts several months. It slips into a bag or pocket with no risk of a spray leak, which makes it the logical companion for long days.
Why alcohol-free
Tahara means “purity” in Arabic, and designates this family of perfumed oils — also called white musk or intimate musk — whose formula contains no alcohol. Concrete consequences: no burning sensation on application, no abrupt evaporation, and a diffusion that spreads over several hours instead of running out in one. In return, do not expect a sillage from it: these musks are smelled up close, that is their nature.
How to apply
One drop on the finger or with the applicator, patted onto the wrists and the base of the neck.
Without rubbing, so as not to heat the oil.
On moisturized skin, staying power is noticeably better.
Layers very well under an eau de parfum, whose staying power it extends.
