Woods incense, box of 6 packs — Cycle
Woods is an incense stick from the Indian house Cycle (Cycle Pure Agarbathi, in Mysuru). The maker presents it as a “masala bathi”: the stick is coated in a scented paste rather than simply dipped in oil. Cycle lists Malabar ailanthus resin, sandalwood, amber and natural oils in its composition, giving a woody, resinous fragrance. This box contains six identical packs, recognisable by their green box illustrated with golden trees and marked “Natural Incense”.
Who it is for, and when
To scent a living room, an entrance or an office, accompany a moment of reading, prayer or meditation, or chase away a cooking smell. Its woody register suits those who find floral incense too sweet. The six-pack format lets you keep some in reserve or give part of it as a gift.
How to use
Place the stick on a non-combustible incense holder that catches the ash, away from curtains, papers and flammable materials. Light the coated end, let the flame take for a few seconds, then blow gently: only an ember should remain, releasing the scented smoke. Start with a single stick, window slightly open, then air the room once burning is finished. Keep opened packs closed, in a dry place.

Frequently asked questions
Is it bakhoor? No. Bakhoor, in chips or tablets, is heated on charcoal or an electric burner, whereas the Woods stick burns by itself once lit. For bakhoor, see our incense and bakhoor section and our incense burners.
Can I burn it in a bedroom? Avoid small closed rooms, bedrooms where a child sleeps, and the presence of animals during burning; prefer a spacious, ventilated room.
